On Sunday morning, LF, LF’s grandma and my godmother took LFD to breakfast for his “most special of days”…Father’s Day!  We went to a place we hadn’t been in a while…a really long while!  And it was good.  The wait wasn’t too long and it was a nice day out, so we didn’t mind waiting.  While we were sitting there eating, LF was getting antsy and decided in the middle of my breakfast, would be a perfect time to go “poo-poo” on the potty.  **sigh**  It’s always when we sit down to eat. 

LFD got up from his breakfast and let me and LF out of the booth and we schlepped back to the ladies room.  LF was wearing a dress with little matching pantaloons underneath.  So I pulled down her pantaloons to her ankles, took off her diaper and perched her on the potty.  And then she wanted down.  And I was ll, “no way, my friend…you said you had to go potty, poo-poo in fact, and we’re not leaving until you produce!”  She squirmed and fussed and then in the midst of that, she wound up peeing, and I was satisfied that the trip had been a success so I put her diaper back on her tush, we washed our hands, dried them off, unlocked the door and walked out side by side heading up the hallway back to the table!

Half way up the hall was the door to the kitchen and as we approached I was wondering why LF was walking funny, only when we got to the door I stopped mid-stride (right in front of the kitchen door where there was a worker coming out) and I leaned down to LF’s height and said, “Why are you walking like a retard?” (I know I shouldn’t have said it, it blurted out, let’s move on shall we?)  LF had seemed to be tripping over herself as she walked next to me holding my hand.  When I inspected LF closer to determine what the problem was, it was no wonder she was tripping over herself trying to walk next to me.  I discovered it was her little pantaloons causing the problem.  They were still down around her ankles, right where I had left them when we started the potty process.  The pantaloons were making her normal 8 or 9 inch step strides constrained to only about 1 or 2 inch step strides. That would totally explain why I am the challenged one in this situation and not my sweet little girl who was only trying to make the best of an uncomfortable walking situation!!!

Someday when I’m old and gray in the nursing home, LF will visit me and take me to the potty and leave my adult diaper down around my ankles and I’ll know how it feels!!!
