On Wednesday this week, LFD and I both went to go pick up Li’l Foot because we had some errands to run afterward. When we arrived in her classroom they were fluttering about, playing, each doing their own thing. Since we were going to be out and about I wanted to make sure Li’l Foot was pottied (I totally just made that a word). While I took her into the potty LFD gathered her bag and all her stuff.

When I emerged from the bathroom with Li’l Foot, I couldn’t help but notice how quiet it was in the room compared to when we first came in. When I lifted my head to survey the room the sight that was before my eyes was just too much to handle. There, sitting on one of those small bookshelves was Li’l Foot’s Daddy. In front of him was a sea of about ten 2-year-olds, quiet as mice, being held captive audience by Li’l Foot’s Daddy. It was the most amazing thing. They were entranced by LFD blowing bubbles with his gum. There was nothing as important to them at that particular moment, even when one of the kid’s dads walked in the room.

You can also see the video here. You’ll notice Li’l Foot is all…yup, that’s right…that’s MY dad!!!

I was told later on in the car that they originally were all standing, but he thought he would see just how much he had them under his power and gave the command for all of them to sit down and they did, as fast as their little bottoms could hit the floor.

Wait, let’s look at that from another angle…

Do you know what that is? That’s a bite radius! That’s a toddler sized bite radius! And do you know who would do such a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad thing to LF? Go ahead…take a guess…

No…not someone at *care!

No…not the dog…while this bite radius is pretty big, the dog’s is way bigger and would probably break skin.

No…not the cat…she wouldn’t allow LF within a 10 foot radius.

It was LilFoot sho did it! Yes, you read that right. She’s been doing it for a couple weeks now. Why? I have no idea. And if we catch her doing it, she give us that face above and once we’ve soothed her from the pain she INFLICTED UPON HERSELF, she laughs and tries to do it again. TO EITHER HAND!!! Sigh!!! I eventually just stop trying to stop her from doing, do my best to distract her from doing it and hope to move on. But this kid is so independent and so driven!!! Gahhhhhh…where the heck does she get that from?

Yesterday when I dropped LF off at *care we were greeted by the teacher and about 4 kids. We said hello!

Almost immediately the teacher got my attention…

Teacher: so yesterday, you’ll never believe what LF said?

Me: oh, really, what?

Teacher: as clear as day, she told one of the other teachers to “shut up!”

Me: **gasp** (giggling inside thinking about writing the blog post about this)

Also me: Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry! She picked it from us when we tell the dog to “shut up”!

Also me: I’m so sorry! (still giggling inside)

Teacher: It’s ok, it was just so clear when she said it, there was no mistaking what she said, she’s very verbal!

So, there you have it! Apparently LFD and I need to keep in mind we live with a parrot. When I told LFD about this he said “well, she probably deserved it!” **sigh** He is so thick headed!!!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the bathtub, Kaboom strikes again!

Last week, on Thursday night I was giving Li’l Foot a bath. I had put her on the potty, she didn’t do anything. She rarely will do something on the potty if the bathtub water is running. She’s too excited about going in the bath to think about anything other than getting in the bathtub. So things were going swimmingly. I had her head shampooed and rinsed out. I cleaned her face with a clean wash clothe. I added soap to that wash clothe and cleaned up the rest of her body. Only surface dirt really, nothing caked on or anything.

She was minding her own business, splashing about in the bathtub. She was doing “butt bombs” as we learned they are called while we were on vacation in Hawaii, which is where she would stand up and then kick her legs out from underneath her and drop to the bathtub bottom with a thud and a splash onto her tushy! (Note: butt bombs can also be done on the bed, only with less of a splashing effect, and more with the hopefullly she doesn’t fall off the bed onto her nose, which would actually make it a “nose-bomb”…plus nose bombs just doesn’t have quite the same ring as butt bombs!) Anyway…I figured she was having fun. The toilet next to me and the bathtub hadn’t been cleaned in about 2 weeks, so it could use a little gulp of “Kaboom” and a swizzle of the toilet brush. What on earth made me think this was a good idea? Why, after the last incident involving Kaboom, did I ever think I should be allowed to multitask during the bath time routine? These are questions I still can’t answer. But here’s what happened.

She was doing her “butt bombs”, I was cleaning the potty, when I heard her say “poopie”. But it was very off the cuff, kind of like she just said it in passing. Kind of like, it’s a word she knows how to say, and she said it for the sake of saying it and for no other reason. One would think that if someone is going to say the word “poopie” it would be with authority and would coincide with a look on said person’s face that spoke for itself. Like a furrowed brow or shifty eyes, a downward smirk on one side of the face or the other. None of these things accompanied her word usage, so I didn’t think anything of it. And she’s famous for using the word “poopie” for when she wants to get out of the bathtub but I’m not done with her in the bathtub yet. She usually only does that little trick when she’s crabby and it’s past her bedtime for whatever reason. She’s also famous for using the owrd “poopie” and all it was, was that she had to toot but she didn’t know that, so when I put her on the potty, she emits a toot and that’s the end of it. Since she’s famous for these things, I figured she just said the word and because she went on with her business she had maybe tooted and was fine. Rule number 1: never assume anything about a potty training toddler! EVER!

She continued to do her “butt bombs” and I had just picked up the bottle of Kaboom to confirm the amount of time you let it sit in the bowl when all of a sudden there was kind of a loud rumble from the bottom of the bathtub.

Bubbles ensued…

Two logs of what looked like oversized tootsie rolls floated to the surface…

And bobbed around in the split second it took for me to lay her towel on the ground and snag her from her now less than clean bathtub. I couldn’t put her ON the potty because I’m sure she had a film of poopie residue on her body, and she was still wet from being in the bath tub. The water in the bathtub, was going down as fast as it could, but not fast enough. Li’l Foot gets cold waiting for the water to go down the drain. She gets whiny. I get whiny. Cleaning has to be done before she can re-enter the bathtub. It’s just more than one mother and child should have to deal with more than once in life!

I can only come to one conclusion. “Butt bombs”? Maybe when done in the bath tub are kind of like an enima? Perhaps “butt bombs” in the bath tub should be outlawed. Yes, from now on, there is a rule against “butt bombs” in the bathtub. And also a rule against sleaning the toilet during bath time. I know I made that promise last time we had a Kaboom incident, but this time…I’m serious! No more!

I can only think, how am I so lucky? How can I possibly be this lucky to be bathing Li’l Foot AND try cleaning the toilet with Kaboom and have Li’l Foot’s tushy go KABOOM…BOTH TIMES!!!

Tonight after work LI’l Foot and LFD met up with me and we met up with Pocklock, EHH and Lyla. It was the first time LFD and Li’l Foot met Lyla. (Can I just mention here how completely awesome Pocklock looks? You would not guess she just had a baby 3 weeks ago…no way!!! No, she didn’t pay me to say that!!! EHH did!!! nah…I’m just kidding!!! She looks awesome!!! Seriously, there’s no way she had Lyla 3 whole weeks ago!!!)

So not only had this been the first time Li’l Foot and LFD met Lyla, but it was really a reuinting of Li’l Foot and Auntie. They hadn’t seen each other in a long time!!! Li’l Foot was so happy to see Pocklock again. A little shy at first, but warmed up right away. Hugs and kisses included!!!

Tonight’s dinner also was a chance for us all to get together before we go on vacation. I know, I know, how could I leave this cute little face:

Here is the reuniting of Li’l Foot and Auntie Pocklock:

And here is a sequence of Li’l Foot meeting Lyla (it was as we were leaving the restaurant, there just wasn’t enough room at the table to get pictures and stuff…and there HAD to be pictures to commemorate the occasion):

And then I just couldn’t resist getting this shot of our men carrying their girls to the car:

Li’l Foot has not been able to stop talking about Lyla since I came home with pictures and showed them to her. Anytime I touch the camera or the computer she asks for Lyla.

Today started last night at 10:45 p.m. It started then because the dog decided to hurl in two heaping piles on our bedroom floor at that particular time. After cleaning that up, we went to sleep (again). At, oh, I don’t know, maybe 2 a.m. or so, over the monitor appeared Li’l Foot crying/screaming. This is not uncommon for middle of the night sometimes. I didn’t think much of it. Most times, unless it goes on for a really long time, we’ll leave her be and she’ll settle herself back down. (Please tell me if you’re a seasoned parent with a toddler or older child, you do this too!) Well, this time was no different, I let her settle down, and she did within minutes.

This morning I woke up, showered, got dressed and went downstairs to get lunches made and bags packed. Li’l Foot was still sleeping so I used the time to my advantage. It’s always nice to get ready without wangling her too. At the very moment I finished packing our bags, I heard her over the downstairs monitor. Perfect!

When I went upstairs, opened her door and greeted her…I was overcome by such a stank, I’m sure if there were wallpaper on the walls it would’ve been curled. When I turned on the light and saw Li’l Foot, to my surprise she was covered in puke. As in…encrusted in it. (Insert Mother of the year award here!) There was puke stains all over her jammies and the left side of her head had crusty puke binding her strands of hair together. I stripped her feety pajamas off right there in her crib with the rest of her “botties” (blankets) and bedding that were puke encrusted.

Straight to the bath tub she went. I had to wash her hair twice before it even started to smell un-puke-like. And even then it still smelled of puke. It was almost as if it was baked in and wouldn’t come out. I guess I didn’t really think much of her being sick this morning so much. Like almost as if she had the colly-wobbles from something she ate last night, or a combination thereof that didn’t agree with each other…like for instance, the pickle she ate and then the Polly-O string cheese that follwed after that, before I got home from work. And then dinner…and milk…and whatever else. Who knows. I just chalked it up to an upset tummy.

So off to *care (I won’t ever say the “d” word again on this blog so it hopefully curbs trolls from visiting my site and bath mouthing my family) we went, after I could get things cleaned up enough. She was late, I was late…it’s just the way it was. I couldn’t leave that bedding and stuff there all day just so I could be on time to work. No way! Shockingly, after going through the night the way she did, and being tossed in a bath first thing in the morning, she was my regular happy-go-lucky kid. Nothing seemed wrong.

We arrived at *care, I was forthcoming with the events that had unfolded, just so they were aware. And I headed to work. I arrived at work at about 9:30/9:45. A full hour late. Oh well! My daughter was way more important. At about 10 I received a phone call from *care (you know what comes next, right?). Li’l Foot was puking a fountain. I hurried to leave work to get to her. I couldn’t stand the thought of her miserable. When I arrived at *care, she was happy as a clam. They were reading altogether in the reading area. She was boppin’ around and interacting like nothing happened. Perfectly happy. This is how my kid is. most times, she’s sick you wouldn’t even know she was sick because she’s just so happy and acting fine. It’s very deceiving.

I got her home without incident in the car. I got her settled in, turned on Classical Baby on Tivo and within minutes she was asleep in my arms laying on the sofa together. She slept for about an hour. When she woke up, daddy had arrived home with a package of pedialyte. She scarfed one of those puppies down in minutes. Weve been hanging out ever since. She napped for another two hours and just woke up a little while ago. Oh, and did I mention the loose-poop? NO? Oh, well…there’s a bunch of it. But again, she seems unphased. She hasn’t eaten much. Now that she’s woken up from her nap, she’s eating some rice cakes from Stew Leonard’s. If she can hold that down, we’ll consider dinner. She’s running a very slight temp of maybe 100.4. Nothing huge, but I’m watching that carefully too.

The big thing right now is that this is over by next week…and that she doesn’t pass this along to either me or LFD. This? We do not need on our vacation. There are many other friends and family I’d much prefer to invite on our vacation…Pukerrhia is not one of the ones I’d consider inviting!!! God I hope this is a 24-hour thing.

Oh, and when I got to *care to pick up Li’l Foot, I was talking to th staff and apparently one of the other staffers kids had this yesterday and she had only chalked it up to an upset tummy too/something she ate.

Well, if nothing else, I’ve learned you can wash Crocs in the dishwasher, which is exactly what I did with them when I got them home. Apparently Li’l Foot puked on some classmates cheerleader uniform dress too. Hey, when she does it, she makes sure she does it all the way, none of that half-assed stuff!!!

We had so much fun, I can’t even tell you! We anchored in a cove and The Li’l Foot family went for a little dip in the Lake. The water was beautiful. The weather was amazing. Just an all around awesome time.

Li’l Foot obtained a new chair tonight. We ran around place to place today. This retirement party, that bbq, grandma’s pool, etc. etc. etc. At the last bbq, I was changing her into her pj’s and she spotted a little kids chair on the other side of the room, and would. not. stop. scooching. until she could go check it out. The nice lady who owns the chair said someone bought it for her doggies, but they never use it, so we could totally have it. LF was so happy. We were about to leave and as we were walking up the stairs, she turned around and blew kisses to our friend who gave her the chair and said, “dan tou” (translation: thank you). (Commence melting!)

Well, when we got to the car, I think LF thought she was going to be able to sit int he chair in the car for the ride home. She kept saying “chayr, chayr, chayr…” It escalated and she got louder because apparently if I don’t respond to her right away she thinks I’m deaf or something. I got her belted into her car seat and was about to close the door when she made sure I knew she meant business, and gave a final…”chayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyr!” I took the chair from the floor right in front of her feet and placed it on top of her lap. She instantly quieted down and thought she was in heaven. Here, take a look at the picture I snapped when we pulled into our driveway.

The ride was about 20 minutes long and she didn’t make a peep the entire way home.

P.S. the chair happens to not even be a child’s chair. It’s from Build-A-Bear, but she doesn’t care…she’s super excited about it and that little piece on the top folds down so it’s kid-usable. That pocket on the side will come in handy though.
