Last night Li’l Foot’s Daddy yelped out. When I turned around…THIS…is what I saw…

Clearly in pain. Clearly a problem that needed to be dealt with. Clearly I needed to help him. But clearly I had to get the camera first and ask him to make that face again. Because clearly the size of this needed to be documented. But this would’ve meant nothing without his facial expression.

Clearly we’ll be needing to fix the molding that separates the tile kitchen floor and the living room wood floor.

Yesterday I was in my Flickr account checking on some things. On my front page I couldn’t help but notice my recent activity of people who have commented. I checked it out and it seemed I had made a ton of comments on my own photos. I was perplexed. I know that sometimes I have some urges to give myself some pats ont he back, but comment on my own photos on flickr? That’s just crazy talk! Why would I do that? I actually sat there for a moment and treid to think if I did type the comments on there somehow without realizing it. Maybe I sleep walked (nah!). Maybe I got drunk and drunk commented (nah!). Maybe… Well, never mind. I just didn’t do it. I know I didn’t.

So I read through all of them. As I read the first few I thought, well, maybe Pocklock’s hubbie is sstill logged into my account on his computer from when he got in to get some of the pictures I took when Lyla was born. Maybe he’s logged in and doesn’t know it. But as I kept reading they began sounding like things that he just wouldn’t write. But then who was doing it?

I started thinking there was a hacker who figured out my account info and was leaving random comments on my pictures just to screw with me. Comments that were random enough that couldn’t lead me to figure out who it was.

And then I got to really thinking. The only place I am 100% logged in to my Flickr account 24 hours a day is at home. That’s the only place. So I started thinking well, maybe it was my friend Moonshine. She was over on Sunday night and I guess could’ve done it, but when I looked at the time stamp on the comments they were made 32 hours prior to yesterday morning, so that would’ve put them being made sometime before she got to my house, like in the middle of the night between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Well, since the cat and the dog don’t have opposable thumbs and the kid was locked up tight behind the bars on her crib, that left two people, and I know it wasn’t me. So that left LFD! So as soon as I thought that thought out thoroughly, I called him. I asked him if he had been on the computer Saturday night into Sunday morning. He said yes. I asked him if he made some comments on my Flickr pictures. And he hemmed and hawed and finally said yes.

Saturday night we were out making dinner for Pocklock and EHH and watch the Sox game. I guess we got home about 10:30/11. I don’t even remember. When we got home, I was exhausted just from the lack of sleep Friday night, so I went to bed. He stayed up, watched the rest of the game. He didn’t come to bed until 3 a.m. Well, now I know what he was doing until that time.

Okay, so first off, PHEW!!! Thank goodness that mystery is over…I was freaked out for a moment there actually. But second, okay, you don’t know LFD, he doesn’t “do” computers. He may as well not have opposable thumbs either for as much as he doesn’t do computers (heehee, that’s a great mental picture actually!). Seriously though, it takes him 5 hours to type one sentence on a computer, I sit here wondering just how long it took him to make comments on the pictures. And really? He NEVER comments on my pictures. He never even LOOKS at my pictures. HECK he never even reads my blog for goodness sake. I don’t get it. Don’t get me wrong or anything I love it, but I’m just shocked is all. And gosh darn it, he’s funny, he SHOULD comment on our pictures and read my blog and then comment on that too, he’d add a certain personality to both. Those who know him can attest to that! I have my very own hacker! So if you see comments that appear I made them on my own photos on flickr, chances are, it wasn’t me!

So guess what Li’l Foot picked up in Hawaii? Any guesses? Give up? Why? No, not why are you giving up! Why? …is what she picked up! Or more appropriately, “whhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyy?”

I’m serious! I thought they go through the “why” stage when they’re 3 or something. She’s not even 21 months! This is just so wrong on so many levels! I’m just not ready to explain every little thing to her. I’m already pretty good at explaining things out, but I am not ready for the endless, “Why?”!

Me: Li’l Foot, put that down!

LF: Why?

Me: Because it’ll break!

LF: Why?

Me: Because it’s fragile!

LF: Why?

Me: BECAUSEISAIDSOARRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Huffff…huffffff…hufff!!!

In each instance this happens, about 5 more gray hairs sprout on my pointy little head for each “Why?” in the conversation! It’s taking a toll!!! I am thinking of answering her “Why?” with totally unrelated responses just because I can and because, really?…Will she know the difference at age 20 months?

So instead our conversation will have a fun twist, like this:

Me: Li’l Foot, put that down!

LF: Why?

Me: Because an animal called the welby roamed the earth 2 point 5 million years ago and is said to be extinct, but any any given moment it could regenerate itself and take over the earth by zapping humankind with it’s antennae.

LF: Why?

Me: Well, in the polar ice caps, there are hot spots and within these hot spots there are frozen milk duds and within those frozen milk duds are the DNA for the welby. The welby would eat the milk dud, but they didn’t actually digest when the welby ate them, kind of like a piece of corn in a human!

LF: Why?

Me: Go ask grandma, she’ll know!

See wasn’t that more fun? It’s going to be a long 2 years, isn’t it…sigh!!! Until then, wine (not whine) donations are accepted!!!

In the last few months or so Li’l Foot has discovered hse can open the refrigerator door. She knows where things are located in the refrigerator. She has a weird fascination with pulling out the jar of sardines from the door (note: I only have this in my refrigerator because it’s part of a Caesar Salad dressing I have made…about 3 years ago, so yeah they can probabaly get chucked). She knows the third drawer up contains her Polly-O string cheese. She has been known to open that drawer for herself and pull out the whole bag of them. She’s also been known to take one or more out and munch right on the plastic without asking for help to open them.

This past week, she’s discovered more things she can take out on her own. I opened the fruit drawer one morning this week so I could take a peach or plum to work as a snack only to find that TWO of the peaches in the drawer had small type bite marks in each one. And I’m not just a little row of broken peach skin, I”m talking, she took a BITE out of each one and put them both back in the drawer. A few days later LFD went to make hot dogs for dinner and when he took them out of the drawer he discovered this:

Yeah, so…LFD’s dogs were accosted by his own flesh and blood. He sure did cook them up though and he sure did give Li’l Foot that one right there on the end of the package. She was none the wiser, since I cut it up into pieces for her.

This morning when I dropped Li’l Foot off at daycare we went straight to the room. Usually I stop in the kitchen and drop off Li’l Foot’s stock of all things edible. When I stop, she usually winds up hanging around outside the kitchen door and with the boredom she decides the potty (next door over) would be a good time waster and incessantly tries to convince me that she’s gotta go, when I know she does not have to! I figured I’d roll with it this morning and change up our routine so as to avoid the confrontation of potty time altogether. So into the toddler room we went. I dropped her bag off, grabbed her food that needed to be refrigerated and her waffle to cook for her breakfast and headed out the door, and she started fussing until she realized I was letting her come with me. She still whimpers when I leave daycare for real and was getting ready for me to leave when I wasn’t. We went to the kitchen, made her waffle and went back to the toddler room, without potty incident! (Which by the way, Li’l Foot did not go in her diaper once on Saturday. She wore the same diaper from Friday night until Sunday morning.)

When we returned to the toddler room I headed for the kids table to set her waffle and milk cup down. And once she entered the room, she just stood there at the entrance to the room right by the baby gate that spans the doorway. She wouldn’t move for anything. She stood there taking in the room, the staff, the other kids and surveying what I was doing but under no circumstances was she going to move away from the gate, because that would leave it unattended and I would have access to it and be able to escape. She was having none of that. She was totally playing the roll of gate keeper. That little smarty pants is totally on to my game in the morning. I hung around for a little while. I sat on the floor near the door and she toddled over and plopped down on my lap. But she’s so smart. She knows if I say anything like “Okay” or “I love You” I am about to give her a kiss and a hug and leave, so when I said these words this morning she started whimpering.

I know she’s just playing me. I know it FOR A FACT!!! I know that she whimpers when I leave and point 2 seconds later she’s fine. I know that before I’ve left I’ve given her the love she needs and that she’s just trying to make me feel bad. And okay, while I do feel bad for that point 2 seconds I know she’s absolutely 100 % fine and loves playing with the other kids and falling asleep at the lunch table after a long hard morning of play. (Hey, what do you think would happen if I fell asleep in my lunch at the lunch table here at work? And then fell over on the floor and got rug burn on my forehead like she did?) Heehee!!!

I want to take this opportunity to wish my hubbie a very Happy Father’s Day! He is the best father around. There just is no one more devoted to his little girl than LFD. Proof is in everything he does each and every day! I can’t even big to list all the things he does for his baby girl! So here’s to you LFD! I thank you and love you for being the best father a mother could ever ask for her daughter!

Friday, last week was LF’s last day in the infant room!!! I know, go get your tissues, blot your eyes, clear the lump from your throat and put your heart back in your chest. Oh, wait…was that just me that got all choked up about this? Oh, okay, sorry! So anyway, since Friday was her last day in the infant room, that can only mean one thing…

She’s in toddlerville now!!! I know, it’s crazy, trust me, I’ve thought about it all weekend long!!! And now you’ll think about it (all week) for about point 2 seconds!!!

About a month ago I ran into the director of the daycare and she… wait, back up…

About 2 & ½ months ago the director mentioned to LFD that she would move LF up to toddlerville beginning July 1st. (Please note: daycare policy is Infant room from newborn to 18 months ~ LF is not 18 months (officially) until July 14th.) I was fine with the July 1st deadline. Sure it’s more money for an infant but I liked the staffer in the infant room (not that I don’t like the toddler room staffer, I do, very much). I also like the infant room because it was that much longer in a more quiet less-toddler-monster environment. But if I’m being honest, LF has spent the better part of her days in the toddler room anyway except for meal times and nap times anyway, so what’s the difference where she is at this point anyway.

She also likes to sit on the infants (I’m not kidding)!!!

So, now about a month ago I ran into the director of the daycare and she told me she would be moving LF to the toddlerville on June 1st instead of July 1st. She said she believed LF was well adjusted and ready for toddlerville. I agreed. And the minute I left my first thought was yes, LF is ready, I have no problem with that, but the director is just being sneaky about this. (continuing my thought) She knows that LF is ready, but I just know she ulterior motives. I just know that she’s got a newborn waiting in the wings to start daycare and she’s “making room”. I knew the minute she told me she would make the move sooner. Because really? It’s all about the almighty dollar, isn’t it? I have absolutely no problem with her moving LF up early, in fact I’m glad (I hated taking my shoes off for the past year and 2 months so that I could go in the infant room to drop LF and her stuff off). But, here’s my thing…I’m an easy going parent. I’ve never ruffled feathers there, I’ve never given them a reason to think I am anything but understanding. The fact that she didn’t just come out and say, “I would like to move LF up to toddlerville because a. I think she’s ready and b. we have a new infant coming in”, is really bothering me. That is all she had to do to gain my respect. I know it’s not a big deal and I’m probably making it out to be more of big deal than I should, but it’s annoying. Just talk to me like an adult and don’t try to be sneaky.

So this morning, my suspicion was confirmed. Sure enough, I walked in to drop LF off, got her settled in, turned to leave and when I was walking out the front door a mommy was walking in carrying her 6-week old little boy. See? I knew I was right!!!

Anyway, aside from daycare politics, I am all-in-all happy about the move. I think LF is independent enough to stand her ground in toddlerville. She can communicate with the other kids and the staff to tell them what she wants/likes/dislikes/etc. I just have to bring in a potty thing for her so that now they can help me get her trained. If you’ll remember we’ve been and continue to work on that. She tells us when she has to go sometimes. Now that I have daycare helping me this should help!!! Also, LFD witnessed something he was very proud of (and I have mixed feelings about) last week. They play a game every day when he picks her up. He would turn the corner into the toddler room and she would run and hide between the cribs. Following right after one of the other little boys would run and hide with her. This particular day LF did not like this very much so she stuck out her hand to his chest and told the little boy to “go away”!!! On one hand I’m all…”GO LF!!!” and in her defense, there are a couple of kids who are especially clingy to LF and won’t leave her alone and she should have her space. But I also think we need to teach her a polite way to handle the situation…but how do you reason with a 16-1/2 month old about how to be polite?!?!? That’s like an oxymoron!!! And another part of me says…HELLZ YEAH…you tell him LF!!! Because eventually we will be making her life miserable beating off the boys, so it’s okay that she starts young…then maybe we won’t have to…she’ll be able to do it all by herself!!!

I am so proud of you LF!!! Go get ‘em tiger!!!

About a month ago now the following took place:

Note: Hubbie takes his showers at night/day, so he would’ve taken his shower for the day in question, the night/day before (sometimes he manages to even shower before I get home from work depending on how cooperative LF is or if he goes to the gym or not.

Ok. I woke up, as did Li’l Foot and I was left to keep her in the bathroom with me while I showered. She toddled around in the bathroom while I showered. And every now and then she’d pull the curtain aside so she could make eye contact with me or it would be quiet and I’d pull the curtain aside to see what mischief she was into. About 5 minutes in, I pulled the curtain aside closest to the window/toilet because I knew LF was over there because the curtain was moving from that general direction from her nudging it.

When I pull back the curtain to see her, she had a bottle of **sigh** KY warming massage oil in her hands (I know, I know, not an approved toy for a toddler, but I had no idea it was on the edge of the bathtub, it usually lives…eh hem…on the night stand…for when hubbie…massages my back…we’ll just leave it at that. Not the point.

I let it go for a little while…actually just long enough for me to drop LF off at daycare and peel out of the driveway cell phone in hand poised to dial hubbie. The following dialog took place…while he was working…in his work van…along with 2 of his co-workers:

**ring ring**

Hubbie: hello

me: hey

hubbie: what’s up

me: so I guess you had a little fun yesterday in the shower

hubbie: huh?

me: the shower! fun! you!

hubbie: I have no idea what you’re talking about

me: well guess what your daughter was playing with while I was in the shower?

hubbie: ?

me (OMG…do I really need to spell this out?) she was playing with a certain bottle you left on the edge of the tub?

hubbie: oh! yeah! so?

me: so? SO? you’re kidding right?

hubbie: sorry!

me: yeah, whatever, bye!

So I went most of the day pissed at him for being so ridiculous and careless!

And then we caught up on instant messenger together…and this is how that conversation went…enjoy…and be glad you didn’t live through the actual instant message conversation in real time…hubbie isn’t too tech savvy so it takes him ten minutes to type 2 words!!!

me: hi hubs
hubbie: whats up woobie!
me: not much
how’s my girl
hubbie: she is playing with her books.
me: HAHAHA
i bet you just love that (note: he doesn’t like that one bit because it entails strewning them about the entire house)
it could be worse
she could be paying with the cookbooks
or the pellet stove
or knives
or a bottle of KY
hubbie: i know.
but if you really knew why i used it you would be disgusted

me: oh GOD
what
what the hell did you do
and why the hell couldn’t you have just let me keep believing that it was used for what i thought it was used for
hubbie: i had a hemmroid that needed to be tucked back into my butt.
me: haha…I’m not disgusted
i only wish i had thought of that when I was pregnant
HAHAHA
hubbie: and its not the type of thing i want to talk about when working with the guys.
me: hahah
got it
hubbie: hey guys my baby girl is playing with my ky.
me: LMFAO
(that meant laughing my friggin’ ass off) (Note: this is not how I originally typed this last IM but this is a family blog so I’ll keep it clean…nd I was explaining to him what LMFAO meant because again…hubbie? not tech savvy!!! )
hubbie: you can write about it in your blog.
me: CAN I?
REALLY?
hubbie: go ahead.
me: You are such a good sport
oh GOD…but wait…my mom reads my blog
dang it

hubbie: dont worry just say its a chronic problem.

also would you like a scicilian pie.
me: yum…sure
hubbie: gotta go Li’l Foot being a pain.
me: ok
in your ass?
worse than the roid?
hubbie: yeah i bought a very large bottle of fiber.
me: nice
alright, see you in a bit
hubbie: hubbie out!
me: love you, bye

And that’s about all I can say about that! So my misperception of the situation caused me some undue stress during that day. The poor guy was just trying to tuck in a roid and I had to go jump to conclusions and get all pissy with him!!! Woops!!! Noted!!!

I just want to thank everyone for your get well wish comments and emails. She is doing much much better now, thankfully. And to top it off she has slept through the night for the past two nights – w00t!!!

I will be blogging more later on today with a full report of hubbie taking part in the “Penguin Plunge” with Pocklock’s EHH in LI Sound. Sure to have photos and/or video. And hopefully much to entertain you with.

What else is on tap for this weekend? Let’s see we’re going to be going out to dinner with some friends tomorrow night to a fancy restaurant, which means w00t w00t…night out without the baby. The dog has strict instructions to have LF in bed by 8:30 and the cat has been studying up on the words to all of LF’s favorite lullabies. Surely, I kid! Yes, yes I do…grandma knows the routine though!!!

I’ll be back later think warm thoughts for hubbie as he plunges into 40 degree water. Teehee

So remember this post. Did you think that was honestly the last you were going to hear from me on that topic. HA…Again I say HA!!!! You thought wrong! Silly reader!!! It’s only gone more down hill from there!!! Read on!

So last I left you this stupid party was taking place on the 15th of December, and it was going to take place at one of two places, the <strike>Polish</strike> hsiloP <strike>Community</strike> ytinummoC <strike>Center</strike> retneC and this Italian restaurant, either way both of those places are plagued with Yonkers political knuckleheads. They both had the date open and it was just a matter of deciding which one would be cheaper (way to treat your employees to a night out hubbie’s company…nice…spare no expense). So now it’s set, this shindig will take place at the land of backwards…a.k.a. The Polish Community Center. Wheeeeeee! Woopdedooo! Making fun is permissable…I know you readers have got it in you to poke fun…I expect it at least from Pocklock, because hey she warned she would, so take your best shot.

So now the saga continues. And now it gets personal. Hubbie’s coworkers over the course of the past week have come up with this <strike>brilliant</strike> stupid idea to <strike>have a sleep over</strike> get rooms at a local hotel that night. And O.M.G. hubbie wants to do it. He thinks it’s a good idea because the party ends late and then no one really goes home right after, they all go to the bar after so that the politicians and bosses can buy them more drinks. Okay, while they will be drinking and it does make sense so that all they have to do is take a cab over to the hotel if need be, I won’t be getting my drink on (much) because I’m still breastfeeding, and holy cow, I just realized, I’ll have to bring my pump so I can dump the tanks, because I’ll be away from Li’l Foot overnight…waaaahhhhhhhhhh (accepting babysitter registration forms now). There was talk about doing this last year but no one followed through, but this year? THIS YEAR…they’re serious about it. They’ve called the Royal Regency and found out they have plenty of room. Great…just great! And I have to go, unfortunately there’s no way out of this one…I’ve gotta support hubbie and he “says” they’ll ask about me if I don’t go.

I think this whole scenario may rival my own company department party which is to go bowling…but I’m not sure…it’s close…real close!!! How cheesy can we get? Is this what it comes down to? A battle of the bad holiday parties? Really? Why can’t we work for normal companies?
