On Sunday, January 24th, I met up with Kellie. She was everything I knew she’d be…fantastic and beautiful and funny and a really cute pregnant chick!!! It was an impromptu meet up of sorts. The week before I had asked LFD to grab my maternity clothes for me the next time he was at storage so I could share them with her. My maternity clothes magically appeared. So I emailed Kellie late in the week to ask if she could meet up on Sunday that weekend. She could and both of us got super excited to finally have the chance to meet. So where were we going to meet? We established a halfway point between her town and mine. And that halfway point happened to be in the town I interviewed in this past summer that offered me the job, but I declined. I had a pretty good open relationship with the guy I interviewed with at that company so I emailed him. He gave me some suggestions and guided us to this place that makes really good burgers and has a fantastic Sunday brunch. The plans were set.
Sunday morning came around and I BOUNDED out of bed. People, I DO NOT BOUND out of bed!!! I was super excited. We were pawning our girls off on our husbands (you will hear in the next post how this went, stay tuned, it’s one you won’t want to miss) and having a girls brunch. I was going to be meeting someone I’ve been reading about all this time. It was going to be so much fun. And I left the details with hubbie as vague as possible, because had he known it was someone from the internet, he probably wouldn’t have approved. Never mind the fact I didn’t even tell my mom! Yeesh, had she known…just ugh! I did tweet it though, so someone would know what I was up to. I was so excited when I left the house, I managed to get out to my car, before realizing, I was that excited that I completely forgot to bring the bin of maternity clothes out to my car with me.
I arrived first in the designated location and when I pulled down the street I got worried. The area was fine, but when one pulls into this area, one wouldn’t get a warm fuzzy feeling. There were high bridges, train tracks, ominous alleys. It didn’t look friendly, but it was fine. Shortly after I arrived, I was looking in my side view mirror and saw a car matching the description of Kellie’s car drive by on the street behind me and it didn’t turn. It looked like her, and I thought “ohgodohgodohgod, she thinks I’ve picked this spot because it’s off the beaten path and I’m an internet stalker (I’m not!)!” Turns out her phone GPS was making her go in circles and she just didn’t know where she was going. Phew, she didn’t change her mind.
We both ate the same thing, cheesecake something or other crepes that were super yummy. And then we drooled when the old couple in the corner got wonderfully aromatic eggs and meat. There were a few close calls where I believed Kellie and that babeh growing inside were going to pounce on the old people for their food. It was hysterical! I can’t even properly convey how funny she was stalking their food! People will never learn to not mess with pregnant women and their food! We had a wonderful 2 hours together. Lots of nice chatting and getting to really know each other. Of course we swapped labor stories like any good woman does when she meets a new woman. Sure it’s on our blogs (well mine is), but there’s just something about telling it in person! Kind of a rite of passage into friendship! And that is totally what I consider this lady…a friend! I am so excited and honored to have been able to meet her and help her stay clothed while she’s pregnant (though I’m not sure how much of my clothes will fit her, since she’s a little peanut and I’m…uhhh…not!) I am so looking forward to getting together again soon with Kellie and get our girls together. I am sure they would hit it off.

I’m STILL giving my phone the bird. All over a software glitch–drove around in circles. Tha HELL?!
I’m still thinking about getting to meet you. I’m also wondering how soon is too soon to stalk you for another meet-up
Thanks again for the clothes–so far, I’ve rocked the corral color shirt with the tie-back waist (the husband says thank you! Apparently, it shows off my rack
), the black shirt with the tie-back waist and the sweater with the stripes in pink/corral colors.
And….it’s possible I’ve rocked the yellow dress. Yes, I KNOW it’s not Winter and yes, I KNOW it’s for a wedding I have 6 days before giving birth, but really? It’s cute and sweet and looked fantastic with a long sleeve t-shirt underneath and yoga pants (ok….and probably my Columbia snow boots.). No, I didn’t wear that outfit out in public….just around the house. And maybe to bring the garbage out. And yes, the grounds crew gave me a weird look. I gave them the bird and a look and they went about their business.
ANYWAY….thank you again. You’re awesome.
I like this post. New friends rock.
Meeting new friends is wonderful! I totally get why you didn’t tell your mom or hubby. Both of mine are the same way-they think I want to meet people I don’t know at all, but they don’t get that we share so much of ourselves with one another once we make that initial connection via our blogs.
I’m glad you had a great time! Also? Can’t wait till we can FINALLY meet.
