Tonight? Do you know what happened? My sister came up from Alabama with my two nieces. And do you know why? Because my sister is dropping off her youngest, we’ll call her “Thing2″ from here on out because that’s what my sister calls them on Twitter. Thing2 is going to be living with my mom. Thing1 is here, and I am super excited to see her and spend time with her while she’s here too. I get her all to myself on Saturday
! Yay!
My sister lives in Alabama, but she’s trying to make the move back up here. It’s been a rough go. She needs to find a job. She needs to sell her house down there. She needs to take care of things before she can actually get up here, back home, where she belongs. But for now, my niece will be here. And that makes me very excited! I have known she would be moving up here for a couple of weeks, but I didn’t want to say anything until she was actually here, and I could give her a giant hug! Only then did it seem like a reality. Things happen. You just never know. I’ve been containing my excitement just because I didn’t want it to fall through. But NOW SHE’S HERE!!! THEY’RE ALL HERE (at least for the weekend)!!! Welcome Thing2…I’m so glad you’re here. And hey, sis…get moved up here soon with Thing2 so we can be a family in one place again.
We had dinner tonight at the local Mexican place and we ran into Pocklock’s dad. Happy Birthday Poppy T!!! We love you lots.
After dinner we unfortunately had to go to a wake for a friend’s father. Please keep them in your prayers.
On the way home we had two cars. LFD had his because he and Li’l Foot met us at the restaurant and I went to dinner right from work. We went to the wake in two cars. On the way home Li’l Foot was asking for ice cream. She knows the stretch of road where the ice cream place is. She knows to ask in advance. She asked and I said ok. We approached even closer and she was still talking about ice cream (in a sing songy voice) from the back seat.
As we passed by the ice cream place I pretended not to hear her. We had ice cream at home. And it was already past her bed time. (Please note: new bedtime routine, TOTALLY WORKING!!!) She started to get upset in the back seat. So I kind of told a little white lie. I told her I was sorry and that I forgot. I figured it would soften the blow, rather than just come right out and tell her we weren’t stopping. I promised her ice cream and sprinkles and chocolate syrup on top when we got home. She didn’t carry on for too much longer. She was fine. And to top it off, we got home a little while ago. I made her an ice cream cone and she devoured it. I know soft ice cream is better, but she didn’t really know the difference. Right now she is so tired. It’s time to shut down and do the fantastic bedtime routine!
